Becky Esker, President, Get Organized! L.L.C.

Are you totally organized? Is there room for improvement? Looking for ways to reduce the piles of paperwork and middle-of-the-night stress? The job responsibilities for PR professionals vary, but all positions require candidates to have exceptional organizational and time management skills. The ability to juggle many projects at once is a must. Join us in December as Becky Esker, President of Get Organized! L.L.C., covers basic tips and strategies for prioritizing, organizing the mounds of paperwork and improving efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.

October meeting topic: "How Iowans Help Shape the National Dialogue"

How do political strategists plan their candidates' messages? In her November talk on "The Use of Research and Focus Groups to Create Political Marketing Strategies," Monica Vernon, President of Vernon Research Group, explained the key role played by her company - and people like you and me - in that process. Vernon Research is a 20-year-old Cedar Rapids firm that conducts sophisticated and often highly secretive research for political consultants who are shaping candidates' messages. Vernon conducts surveys and assembles carefully selected focus groups of individuals who provide input on current issues and offer reactions to potential campaign ads. If you'd like to be considered for participation in a focus group (which pays $70 for a couple hours of your time), you can register online by joining Iowa's Opinion Panel at www.vernonresearch.com.
